Picked up a Stillen Lip kit from a dealership clearing thier stock. Gotta get it painted first but I'm worried about scratching it while going over bumps. Anyone with the lip + Tanabe springs getting problems?

Don't hate me...

$88 for the front and $92 for the rear...and those were the last 2. I bought them to cover up a gash on my front bumper from when a curb pwnd the unpainted trim part of the lower front left bumper.

EDIT:

Link to the dealership I bought it from. They may have other parts available for the Versa

Paint and install will be coming soon. But not before rims. Wheels will be here in a few weeks. With the stock alloys, the car sits too low for me to want to have the painted lip mounted on the car. It'll definitely scratch, no matter how slowly I go into a driveway or over a speedbump.

As for rims, it'll be these ones:

Motegi SP10 in Matte Black (17 lb @ 17")

so then what size tires are you going to get if the stockers are to low? and how much are you hoping to gain (height) with this?

I'll be running 205 45 17 tires. After looking at some pics of guys with 17"s and Tanabe springs, it looks like it'll raise the car by an inch or so over the springs with stock wheels. Not much, but i'd hate to have a painted lip scratch which going into a driveway

205/45-17 are actually .2" smaller than stock, so it will lower your car about .1" further. if you want to raise the car you will need to get maybe a 50 series tire, 215/50-17 will raise the car .5" over stock, 225/50-17 will be .8-.9" over stock..http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.htmlyou can check different sizes on this link, therer is a different link floating around the V forum but i didnt save it because it hurt my brain

Is paint really needed? why cant you just add the lip all black?or that wont look goood?

EDIT: is it posible to raise the height with 16" rims??

nismo v has a grey/silver (what ever its not blue) V with a black stillen lip kit, and i think its looks better than it would if it were painted...

rim size doesnt make any difference at all in overall wheel/tire height, its all in the tires. the side effects to this are less power, worse braking and worse milage.ny.ad.man has a bigger tire with 17" rims, not only will it raise the car but it makes the car look lower because there is less space between thw tire and fender...

So yur sayin that it doesnt look better then it would painted right??I guess its based on the type of color your car is, but then again black can match with pretty much any color.

And about the tires...i see your point about the gap, but just wanna make it clear to me,the larger the tire is, more of the those side effects is possible?I was thinking of getting 205/70/15, i doubt it there should be problems..

you should save your money you would spend on 15" wheels/tires and go for 17". IMO those tires will look like crap, they are 2" taller than stock, and the side effects a mentioned before will be huge with that much difference.for instence, i lost 5 mpg and had to replace my brakes when i got 4" taller tires on my 4runner

just my opinion
