phantom grip lsd? and msd timing retard

alright i know a guy that wants to sell a phantom grip lsd...from what he said it is just a pin that goes into the diff to make it lock... does anyone know how they work? if they are worth getting? and how much should one be? also he has an MSD timing retard box... does one need that item, how much is it worth?
