After bucking the critisism and some install challenges, my phantom grip unit is finally in. I can honestly say for right now it does exactly what they claimed it would. The only time I noticed it was there is going in a strait line. No more one wheeled wonder. The install on the other hand was nothing like the instructions or person answering the phone at phantom grip said it would be like. If I had it all to do over again I think I would have waited for a lsd out of a SE or J30. Any questions on the install or diff specs just ask.

It only took about an hour to pull the diff, but when I went to install the phantom grip unit it was too big. I had to have my spider gears machined down. You also have to remove the ring gear to install the unit. It took me some time to find the torque specs to put everything back together too. But, it works good.

You haven't been doing much research online then because every website that I go to that talks about the installation of the phantom grip they all mentioned that. It's even listed on phantom grip's website.

Yes, the specs for the bolts holding the diff up are easy to find, but the ring gear bolt specs themselves arent. I spent hours looking at the phantom grip web site and didnt see anything like what your talking about. They said to use a grinder to take extra material off your gears. I didnt think that was a good idea. I measured my gears and the phantom grip with a micrometer and then shaved them to spec with a mill using a carbide bit.

i don't know how much you're going to like the phantom grip after a while. i've heard negative feedback on the PG when it comes down to anything other than a straight line because the differential is now locked and both tires will always spin together.

The diff isnt locked though, it acts just like a lsd. I was curiuos about that too. So what a did is put one tire on the ground and adjust my torque wrench to the lowest setting. Unfortunately I didnt have an axle nut socket with me so I had to turn the raised wheel by the lug nut. I then would to apply pressure to the torque wrench till I heard it click. Then I would set it for 5ft lbs more. At 50ft lbs, the wheel spun with no click from my torque wrench. I think if I used the axle nut socket to spin the wheel in the air the ft lbs would have been greater due to the reduced leverage.
