I don't want to weld my diff or do anything beyond swapping just the differential itself. I'm thinking about getting a PG because it's more DD friendly then a welded diff. Question is, who has used them. I don't want people in here saying, "O they suck a**", when you haven't used them.

This is only a temporary setup until I can afford my Quaife 2 way a year or so down the road.

haha i have never used one, but just put an extra shim in your spider gears and it will most likely do the same thing. lol i doubt many people in nico have tried one but you should be the test dummy lol

$350 for that....

lets see $50 for a welded diff and thats for a welded pumpkin all you have to do is bolt it in.

$500 for a "real" lsd.... and that thing looks weird and hokey....just my two pennies

Hey if it works I don't care what it looks like. And the Quaife is like $1400 for the R200. Far from $500.

welded is free. and shimming it would be cheap too. shimming is an old timer trick. lol its not positive but its putting more pressure on things just like the "PHANTOM GRIP" (gotta say it with a phantom type voice lol)

what ever choice you do just post up pics, results, and possibly a video

ok,.....why spend money twice??

why a Quaife (other than their stellar reputation and warranty), you can pick up a good used Kaaz, Carbonetic, or Tomei for like $5-600, most likely you WILL NOT break one of those unless 1)your doing something REALLY wrong, 2) you have WAY too much power, or 3) your the worst person in the world about seriously ragging on your car

for $2-300 more you can get a New differential of one of the manufacturers above and install it and break it in RIGHT, that way you know its done correctly, or at least to your satisfaction, and your still saving $600 off of a Quaife.....but dont get me wrong, if you have your heart set on the afforementioned differential then by all means get it, i just dont see a point in spending money twice......

Well, depending on how well the PG works I may keep it and not get an LSD. (Don't kill me for sayin that)

Not going welded and I'll have to look up about shimming the gears. I don't want a VLSD and the reason I'm set on the Quaife is cause it won't wear out like a CLSD. I believe it's a geared unit?

You can get them for half that price on ebay. They're a joke.Plenty of people have run them and said they're crap.A couple of springs + a piece of metal = lsd? What a sales gimmick. For that price you could get a used s15 helical. Pass.Get what you want the first time.

Thanks. Only problem I've heard with them is in FWD/AWD cars where a pin breaks.

How's it feel? Anything like an LSD? Or does it feel sort of like a welded diff?

I don't think the J30's are longnose R200's. Shortnose R200s won't work in an S12.

Get a J30 LSD, buy new shims($6 each, you will need 3) and re-shim it.

Follow this guide.

Enjoy your new 1.5 way diff.

I don't know a whole lot though, it was on the car already when I bought it...so i couldn't really tell ya if felt more like an actual LSD or a welded diff, I have yet to drive one that has either of those.

Well, it feels ok...not really sure what else to say lol, I haven't run into any problems since I owned the car. When driving in the rain, I don't break traction at all (normal driving). Also, both tires will spin when I want them too.

Not too sure if this helped at all.

Edit: From what I understand...it's basically a 1.5 way if im not mistaken. Also if I remember right, this phatom grip just seems like the expensive version of doing that shim thing or whatever it is.

Quaife doesnt make 2 way diff's. They only make torsen/helical diff's.Just FYI
