Post

Hi everyone, my name is Rob. I'm an older guy, 40 something.

I recently bought a Daytona Blue (as it says on the invoice) 09 Versa SL HB. Love the car, fun to drive and great gas mileage, which will only get better as the engine breaks-in.

Prior to the Versa, i had a 2002 Sentra SE-R Spec-V, i was able to put 275000 kms on it before the precat finally scored the walls and experienced a significant loss in power and oil usage, that engine was aticking time bomb, the QR25DE.

i drove the spec-v to the dealer at 9am and drove out in a new versa (15kms on the odometer) at 11am. (i also owned a '91 NX1600 with 451000 kms on it, had to retire it due to body and frame fatigue)

my mods so far on my Versa are:front strut tower braceK&N drop in filterStillen Axle-back

i am ordering the final braces, lower and uppers in the next couple days.

well, that's a bit about me. i have lurked here for a bit now and finally got to signing up.

thanks

i got $2000 for the sentra on trade. it needed a new motor, control arms, ball joints, precat, brakes. so it was a money pit.

and so far i am getting 40mpg (canadian mpg, as the U.S. gallon is smaller 3.78 litres compared to 4.5 litres per gallon)

and yes, mpg will get better as the engine parts 'seats'.

thanks for the welcome!

Lol. I still love seeing pics of the Versa. And yes my V has tinted windows, and a hood deflector, along with ... red painted calipers, window deflectors, bumper protector, aluminum door sills (kick plates) and pink interior LEDS in the passenger and driver footwell

welcome rob from fellow Canuck and former sentra owner!
How are you enjoying suspension mods?
If i could find a way to revert to manual steering, i would!
ARe you gonna drive the v in the snow?
Got 38.6mpg on first refill, but put $2 more in than start fill, so should be over 40mpg.
Do you have a big commute in the v?

I recently put in the upper front strut bar (Ultra Racing brand) and honestly it's made such a huge improvement already in the car's handling! That should have been the very first thing I bought ... I don't know why I waited two years, lol ...

I drive mine in the snow! I've got snow tires and rims, and she handles like a champ! She's my tiny SUV :D

Loved the snows on the sentra and still do on the van.
Only thing held me back was ground/snow clearance!
Should be awesome on the V, a little heavier than the sentra.

Ya ... the Versa is much lower than my previous car too, but I have never gotten stuck in the snow with her. My parents minivan does not have snow tires; so we usually drive my car when we have to go somewhere. My dad has snow tires on his daily driver and my brother does on his SE-R too ... Snow tires make the world of a difference. I find the stock conti's on the Versa slip around in the rain.

hey rob
i'm also 40something guy,
bought V to take over some minivan duties.
Was very happy with sentra.
Wish the versa had some more SE-R/Skyline qualities. but that will come
Thanks for all the input regarding suspension mods,
keep them coming!
My first mod will either be speakers or tint.
