hey i was thinking, as i usually do when i should be working. I've had the worst luck with my car mats, they are constantly shifting around and rolling up. i was thinking, of buying some sheet metal tapping screws and screw them into the floor. have any of you tried this?

That sounds like a terrible idea. Get some better mats. I'll bet you got the really cheap ones that shift around. Get some good ones and they won't ever move on you. Cheap mats are dangerous because they get under your feet when you should be driving the car.

the factory ones have a little hole and theres a hook just under the seats by the adjustment lever that hold the mat from shifting around.

the hook is only on the drivers side floor mat. At least thats how it is on my s14. I know what hes talking about though. I have origonal floormats, but on the pasanger side it always slides up, because it hink all the little rubber spikes are broken off. Does anyone know where you can get oem s14 floor mats besides paying a crap load at the dealer, and if the dealer is the only place, how much would they run me? I have been able to find silvia floor mats, but they wouldn't work, I can find oem floormats at places for just about every car but the 240. Thanks

Pshaw To yall, i think it's a wonderful idea! I thought about the velcro suggestion, but then i stopped and decided to go with my idea. Not that i don't appreciate your input. If everything works out fine i'll post some picture of it or something.

Oh and to answer the question about washing it, what i was going to do, altough i'm not clear how i'm going to do it yet, is make it so that i could remove them when needed. so what i'll probably do is use those fasteners that you can find on the door molding of cars to keep them to the door. I hope you understood what i just said. anyway. . .

. . .Thats it for this episode, i'll keep you posted. . .

why not screw the mat to a piece of sheetmetal so it cant roll up, but is stil removable. . . cut ti to fit perfectly on the floor so it wont slide. that would work. . . right?

Maybe I'm goin' crazy, but I swear that my S13 has the hook on both sides. I love those things. I'll have to check next time I'm in my car.

Yeah, I just checked mine again too. Best thing since sliced bread.

I just recently read (on the forums, I think) that the OE 240SX floor mats were no longer available from Nissan dealers. Somewhere, someone should be making a lot of money making exact duplicates of these mats. I don't know how difficult it would be, but I'd try it if I had any sewing aptitude.

I tried the washing em , leaving em flat so the crease comes out routine and the thing crinkled up . I tried it again and left the mat wet so it'd dry into the right shape - no worky either . Velcro ? :thumb It's funny , nobody ever rides in my car but the thing wouldn't stay in place without the velcro . I snipped the nubs ( all of em are still there , I've only put ~ 17k on the car and maybe 2-3k of that with a passenger ! ) flush off the back and used a couple strips of Velcro to hold it in place . Seems to work fine over the past couple months .

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have OEM ones and that hum on the drivers side is a pain. How do you get the mats to go right over it. Also, does anyone know where to get new carpet?Josh
