pesky belt, whats the best technique

Its damn hard to get this f*cker on

My car is not running yet and I've ignored it enough because its not the biggest problem, but at this point I have to get it on.

whats the best way

You have to loosen the bolt on the bottom of the alternator, and also the nut on the tensioner bolt. Then the alternator will move freely. Get the belt on, tension the belt. Then tighten everything.

the belts are badly worn.

but new belts and a new pulley set are all on the forecast
