I am upgrading carb to a Weber and thinking of a header but I dont know what the best mode for my 74 620  would be for the dist. I have had Pertronix in other cars and have been very satisfied. any help or insight  would be appreciated. Thanks.

Get a 1973 L16 exhaust manifold...these have a good flow, same as a header. The Weber is very nice upgrade from the Hitachi...get the high rise adapter...better torque.

Has anyone tried this?
Cool information. I will be useing this info when I chang out mine.:dude:

I'm not trying to burst you bubble, phlebmaster, but you're appearing like a new member either trying to pump up your post count or impress us.  Answereing old threads, without adding anything new.  Thanking a guy for a 'heads up' on a truck in the junkyard when he's in Florida and you're in Oregon and the 'heads up' is three weeks old.  The info you've posted here and in another thread I've looked at has been available on the internet for quite some time and is even linked to elsewhere on this site had you bothered to use the search function.  The tech section here is fairly extensive and you're not adding anything new.  Ease up a little.

Here is a suggestion from IMH....thanks man! :dude:

"Try the late 70s E12-80 4 cyl. distributor is a simple two wire hookup.  Did that on every 510, 521, or 620 that I ever owned. "

Here is a pretty strait forward how to:

Problem there is, that how to is for a E1/J series engine.  For an L engine, that distributor is pretty much a drop in if you get the base that goes with it and a 280Z/ZX coil.

Off topic:  Steve, did you live in AZ before?  Or did your truck?

No, I never did live in Arizona.  I bought the truck from a guy who said it's been in his family in Los Angeles since it was new.
