What about antique/historical plates???
In Ohio we can have historical or antique plates registered (original or reproduction) as long as the color matches the original of what they had for that date and they display the date of manufacture of the vehicle. Also only one required on back of car. Not sure of the laws in AZ.
Lucky for my car being 70, in Ohio it was scarlet and gray (shut up Michigan). Not so great for some other years.

The price is a little high $100. I am going through the same thing with my car. Have to get over to the DMV to figure it out.
Other things to consider would be if they are to be limited for car shows and parades and stuff like that. You can always say you are on your way to/from club meeting
