Does anyone have experience buying from performance VH? I placed an order on Monday and besides a confirmation email I haven't heard back. I've tried getting in touch regarding an update without any luck. I understand that small business owners may get bogged down with the work load however I didnt expect to be ghosted. I dont mind waiting for parts as long as I have a timeframe.

Maybe amazon's prime shipping has destroyed my concept of patience and I'm being unreasonable :gotme

There was a shop in Austin putting VH45DE into Z32 but I have not tracked him for a couple of years. I do not think this website is he.

Everything done so far has been typical. Waiting on the timing set, got done with the aftermarket sound system/fuel pump last week. There's plenty of write-ups on those (also im willing to wager not many of the members have access to the equipment for a current ramp test, no use in rambling about that). The only thing really worth posting about is the fualty TCM. I can do a breakdown regarding that if there's any interest. I'm hoping to learn this vehicle inside and out as I'll be driving it until it disintegrates.

What sort of time frame were you two looking at? Still no word from the guy. I know what it's like to have a "concerned" customer and I'd rather not sour relations with this parts supplier, his work looked pretty sweet. I think I'll give him another week before looking elsewhere. Besides the dealer are there any other timing sets that come recommended by you? Pretty much all I've seen are either incomplete or low quality. I'd rather not juggle multiple orders if that's possible.

Not sure the time frame you are on. But he's solid. make sure you ask if he has replenished his t-shirts. He didn't have any more large performance VH shirts... oh and make him throw one in for free if u can. You purchase the set yet? At the end of the day... blame it on covid... ugh

The timing set VH sells is ITM brand, and one of the tensioners I received was bad right out of the box. If I were doing it again I’d look elsewhere. Amayama has all the OEM parts but you’d have to piece a kit together, then wait 3-4 weeks for it to get here.

Pfft. There is a writeup here that lists all the parts. Amayama is incredibly quick. Atleast before covie. I got parts from them quicker than anywhere stateside. Unless you exprct this car to be your daily driver...3 to 4 weeks isn't bad.. will take time to piece it together again..
. That sucks the tensioner was defective or bad.

Yes, I paid for it on the 28th. If he ever gets back to me I'll bring up the merch. I'm a sucker for stickers. I just want to have all of the major kinks worked out by summer time. I can't check drivability if I'm scared to turn on the car you know what I mean :rotfl

Honestly we haven't had much in the way of shipping delays for parts. a few months ago there was a couple of weeks where it was hard to get rotors for certain GM trucks but that's about it. it's been business as usual for the past couple years. What we can't get in a reasonable amount of time from the stealership we just order online and wait a few days sometimes paying a premium for high demand parts of course.

And yes, I'm well aware of the write-up. I've specifically been trying to avoid ordering 20 individual parts separately. I would have to get the shopping cart peer-reviewed as I tend to miss a few items on larger orders. It seems strange that he wouldn't have one or two sets set aside for the engine which is his specialty. That's all I'm getting at.

Now that you mentioned that I dug a little deeper and despite the almost perfect reviews there are a couple on his Facebook page that mentioned defective tensioners. I think you're right.

You could do the VH kit for simplicity but order OEM tensioners for reliability. Replacing a brand new tensioner once the engine is completely assembled and running again is a PITA.
