Hey there, I'm driving a 2009 Versa 1.6 and I'm trying to find out if there are any performance upgrades for this model (intake, exhaust, etc.). I can find plenty of stuff for the 1.8's but nothing that specifically states that it will work with the 1.6 (not sure if some of these parts can fit both models).

I also just read about the new Juke engine (1.6L direct injection w/turbo for those that haven't heard), and was considering getting the engine swapped if that was possible. If you have heard of this being done (which I assume is unlikely at this point with the car not actually being sold yet) or have any input on how something like that could be done, and what other parts would be needed for it (transmission, suspension, etc), I would love to know!

The Versa is a great little car but I would definetly sacrafice some MPG's for a little (or a lot) more speed!

intake and exhaust are available already. we're working on a supercharger kit for the 1.6L.

Juke engine is also being researched to replace an MR18 (1.8L) engine.

Where do I go to order these? Do you have a website?
The supercharger sounds awesome. Keep us posted on that and the engine swapping research too!

Versaspeed.com is my favorite site to buy from. #2 is MicroImageOnline.com

:wtf2: I don't see anything on either website for the 1.6, the Fujita, Takeda, and AEM intakes are for the 1.8, the Weapon-R doesn't say, I will probably send them an e-mail and ask. Don't see any exhaust systems that are for the 1.6 either.

Just to chime in here....the reason you don't see anything under the 1.6 is when the companies were developing the pieces they were done on a 1.8 Versa Hatch.

There have been a few guys with the 1.6 purchase the Takeda's and DC's for there cars and have not had a problem...but again the manufactures won't publish it because they have not tried it on a 1.6. With a little luck the 1.6 guys can post what mod's they have purchased for the car.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks, I thought that may be the case. Looks like the engine compartments have the same setup. I just wasn't sure if the throttle bodies were the same size on both engines. Also, when you say the "DC's" I assume you are talking about the exhaust system, correct? I think I will go for the Takeda, heard some good things about that one. Just need to find somewhere with a good return policy in case it doesn't fit. I wish they had a supercharger for this car, but it looks like the Versa (1.8's and 1.6's) aren't getting nearly as many aftermarket goodies as some of the other cars in this class.

RS,

You can't go wrong with Versaspeed for customer service and returns.

The supercharger is in development right now. I heard around Thanksgiving for it. It's goal is to fit the 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0L engines.

I emailed Bob over at Versaspeed.com to ask if he knew if the exhaust and intake systems they sold would fit the 1.6L models. He did some research and told me he got confirmation that the DC exhaust would fit the 1.6's and that he would be looking into the CAI's further.

I'll keep you guys updated on what he tells me.

I have a Versa 1.6 2009. I am also on this quest to parts. I bought from versaspeed a couple upgrades like the Fujita CAI, the DC exhaust and the electronic throttle controller. Unfortunately there isn't much out there. I am really tempted to try the obx header and downpipe because i think they could fit, even if just the down pipe since the versa has 2 cats and I believe if I got rid of them I would get some more power. though I just dont have the money to risk, because if I buy them and they don't fit, the company won't get them back and I would have to pay for return... anyways, I am really eager for the supercharger. I am just concerned about supporting upgrades for it.. for example: clutch, fuel system, ECU flashing, etc... Also, Another upgrade that the members of my crew do is fuel injectors, fuel pump, and so on... look into that if you want some improvement that won't cost you an arm and a leg. I would do them too, but I just don't have enough info about them... Most people seem to know they're good, but nobody has given me an answer I can rely on.

So, you have installed the Fujita CAI and DC exhaust on your Versa 1.6? Did you have any trouble with installation, or did everything bolt right up? Have you been happy with them so far?

The DC exhaust bolted right on with no problems. The Fujita CAI was a bit bigger, however, the silicone hose allows you to tighten it up as needed. So I didn't have any problems putting it in. In fact, of all the cars I have put CAI, this was the easiest. The only complaint I have is that the Exhaust hangs to low and if you are not careful on sharp hills, it will scratch on the floor, but that's about it. Let me know if you find anything else for the car. I am constantly upgrading my car as much as I possibly can and any opinion is appreciated.
