Hey, I have a 99 with the KA24DE, I did a cat-back, a K&N, and reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery. By far I wouldn't recommend the K&N, it did nothing, I would go to fbimini.com and get the cold air intake, and build a custom exhaust with a flowmaster. I think headers are available for your truck too. The one thing I haven't done is do a pipe from the manifold to the cat, I need to, it's really small and restrictive. Thats my experience

install a highflow cat from magna flow and a magna flow cat-back exhaust 2.5 inch diameter, pacesetter has headers, install a apex'i s-afc 2 or the AEM stand alone unit. try to find an intake, if not, K&N is the best bet. and other then that. i think you'll be good and also check out 4x4.com
