I have seen some threads for the exhaust as far as replacing after the CAT on back - but nothing regarding performance mufflers. Does anyone have these type mufflers - Can you guys pull up this link - http://www.car-stuff.com/perfo...=true

If not - the website is http://www.car-stuff.comThanks,Charlie

Probably less durable than stock, and certainly no gain in performance.

The VK45DE is pretty free flowing as it is. There is a motor chip from Impul.

A motor chip?!?! I had no idea. Can you please give me the link so that I can research the cost and performance gains. I tried http://www.impul.com and keywording "impul chip" and couldn't find anything. Thanks for the info on the muffler - not gonna get it. Thanks again - Charlie

The impul chip for Y33 is most likely not worth it. Its well over 1000 and probably not nearly the gains that the NICO ECU has for early Q.

As best I can recall from early threads, the Q gains very little from the usual intake and exhaust mods, certainly not enough to justify the expense. Nissan has developed the motor pretty close to its maximum.Actual crank HP is reputed to be around 315 to 320 HP as opposed to the advertised lower rating, pretty good for a 4.5 liter motor designed around 1988 or so.

NICO ECU is supposed to be a good upgrade according to reports here. Some weight reduction tricks would help performance and handling.

Beyond that, I think forced induction or nitrous may be the only way to find significant power gains.

I'm researching moderate power gains somewhere around 25 hp or so for my own 2005 Q45, and nothing is promising so far outside of forced induction or nitrous, neither of which I want to go to for various reasons. There is no aftermarket ECU that I've found for the F50 (2002-2007 Q45), which limits my options even more than yours.

The US VH41DE are really limited by the log style exhaust headers and to a lesser extent by the log style intake manifold.

Adapting the JDM octopus plenum would invovle a lot of retrofitting, and who knows how the JDM better flowing headers would work in a LHD application? The Impul headers would would be great if you can afford the $3K in Japan price, but would they fit a LHD configuration?
