Has anyone had any experience using those performance enhancing chips/modules sold on ebay? Looks like one of those things that is too good to be true.

This may be a rare instance where you dont even need to bother searching the forum and go with your gut instinct.

Yeah don't do it. It is completely unscientific, and is really just a resistor (like from Radioshack for .23 cents) that drops the voltage going to the computer, making it think that the temperature/flow of the incoming air is colder/more. So it adjusts your variable valve timing to compensate for air thats not actually colder. Goodbye gas milage... hello added stress on cam parts + detonation. Its a debauchery and I'm sorry for anyone who gets suckered into buying one.

I guess we're always looking for improvements and miracles, but if any ofthese devices had real positive results, the word would probably spread like wildfire. I always like to read about new things and I've seen so many of those kinds of products, but not one that was great. I even went as far as emailing 30 ebay members who bought a product and asked them for their feedback. Every one said they never noticed a difference or gave negative comments.

db_autoek Thanks for your response.

If you are willing to waste your money on those chips, don't bother. Just send the money to me, and I'll give YOU...ahh...hmm...I've got it! This rabbit that appears to have a pancake on his head! ACT NOW, TODAY ONLY, THIS RABBIT COULD BE YOURS!

No I only use kicker amps and subs. But I have seen the autotek subs somewhere on the web, after i started using db_autotek for my (never taken off) startup business.. just a coincidence.

Yeah Lino I always wondered about those " 20+ HP!!! FOR 20$$$ " chips floating around ebay.. so i did alot of research to find out exactly what the catch is, and its just a couple wires and a resistor from hong kong for .23 cents. Truthfully, it might work for a car with no variable timing AND no cam angle position sensors, but thats basically narrows it down to 87 civics HAHAA.

I am curious if these "Tornado" things work. Anyone tried one? They're like 70$ in the parts stores and plenty of ebay knockoffs. With rising gas prices, I would love to see if it really saves a couple mpgs... and it can't technically hurt anything. Input?

No on the tornado's as well. All the unbiased tests I've seen show no improvment and actually a decrease on performance.

Yeah that's what I figured. They work by making a "vortex" according to the packaging. But that means turbulence within the intake tract, which in my experience is cause for loss in performance, and really couldn't be any good for MPG either. Right?
