I have a performance ECU that I paid $500 for several years ago from JET Technologies in CA. The first one they sent resulted in the car sending out black smoke and then not going above 20MPH. I sent it back and got another and the car has run fine ever since. However, I could never feel any difference in the performance. The question: Is there an easy way to tell if the ECU has been modified? This car is a 93 Q with TCS. It's quick just want to know if I got anything for the $500, especially since the $$ being thrown around lately to get one updated are so much less. Thanks,

Open the case and look inside. If the big chip near the back of the ECU is plugged into a socket, then your ECU has at least been socketed. If not, it is stock. There's no way to tell what the contents of the chip are unless you send it to me, or someone else with an aftermarket Consult.

HAHHAHHAH,

sorry..

JET ECu....

they might as well have made theyre dyno graphs using MS Paint.

Sorry to say, even if yours is chipped, you were better off removing your airfilter, for horsepower.

Theyre a joke.

Back in 1992-93 Dinan made a "socketed chip" for Q45 [might have just been a JWT copy?]...........they sold their programming business in late 1994 as they foresaw OBD2.

Anyway hard to feel 20HP [they promised 307 HP/336 lb/ft] which is less than 12% improvement, only a stop watch or quarter mile tells you much..............most people cannot accurate measure 0.2 seconds out of 15.
