One question I wanted to ask was my 1992 Q45 supposedly had a 'chip' installed when new according to my father in law that started the car in 1st gear everytime and also firmed up shifts as well as raised shift points (which if I hold it to the floor it definitely shifts above 7000 rpm (probably 7250-7300)... is there a 'chip' or plug in module that does all that? Or do you think the ECU was modified? It was done by the dealer right after new car purchase. Where would I look to find it out. My father in law is kind of clueless on the details but knows what he wants... so I'm just trying to figure out how it got there....

ThanksFred

Sounds like both a modded ECU and TCU ... I think we're gonna have to get together (assuming chain guidesa re done) so I can feel a strong running early Q.

Stillen offered both early on.

I remember the Stillen name being thrown around quite a bit when he bought the car. But looking the car over I don't see their name on anything.. maybe they weren't as big with plastering their name on parts - or maybe the dealer removed decals or something...

So chances are I have 2 mods... a TCU and ECU?.... hmmm...

pull off the passenger side kick panel and see if the ecu has anything on it. unscrew it and see if the sticker seal is broken.

It's very easy to do. Do you know how or need any help?
