I need some help from you guys in the US
Im in Australia and and going to import a half cut to put the VK45 into a R34 Skyline
I can get both gen2 and gen3 but the gen3 will cost a lot more

Looking at all the specs the gen2 and gen3 M45 the engine power out put is the same and they both come with a 5sp Auto.
Why does the gen3 M45 have such a better 0-60 performace? Watching youtube vids the pickup in all gears is a lot better.

Is it possible to get the gen2 to go as well as a gen3

I hope someone can help
Thanks

Are you sure they have the same 5 speed transmission? I was pretty sure both M35 and M45 models went to the 7 speed in 2008 for the "gen 3". In addition, the M35 went to a new motor with dual air intakes. The M45 egine stayed the same AFAIK

As far as I know from my research the M45 stayed with the 5spd transmission only the V6 went to the 7spd
The gen 2 vk45de has a different intake manifold, but stated power and torque is the same as gen 3

Putting 08+ models aside there is a huge performance difference in acceleration between 03-05 model m45 and 06 model m45
