They do about as much as an electric supercharger. Which is, waste money. Advance the ignition, it's free.

I don't think anyone makes "chips" anymore, the more popular mod is a romulator, Like a chip but programable. This allows real time tuning to be done for maximum performance.

There were some chips back in the day, there was a place in El Cajon, CA that did tuning chips...but honestly they really did very little. As they said, advance you timing, spend the $$ to get you Z into top shape and just enjoy. These are older cars that are not fast, but they are still very fun.

A Z31 can be made faster than a modified Z32 for a fraction of the cost, time and effort.

I'm guessing your car isn't turbo, first step would be a turbo swap, then add an intercooler and a boost controlller, cone air filter, turbo back CM exhaust this will put you at around 300 whp dependable and safe. If thats not enough, time for a bigger turbo, injectors, forged pistons and a romulator, this opens up a world of possible power, 400-500 whp easy depending on turbo selection and tuning.

Agreed, if you have a Turbo the HP is easy to build. I bought my car brand new in 1984 and the insurance for a Turbo for a 23 year old guy was too much, so I still have NA...it is hard to find ponies on the NA........if you just want raw HP the turbo swap is the way to go.
