I'm considering getting a chip in my G and getting Dyno'd.

I had a coupel questions:1. Anyone had this done yet and are you satisfied with the results?2. I would like to lower the RPM at which the Torque fully engages to perhaps 3500RPM as opposed to 4800RPM.

What do you guys think as far as the best results?

If you do, could you dyno your car before and after? Also, the ones I've seen are around $900.00. If you divide the cost by the HP gain, the value may not be so good. Which one are you looking at?

You wanna do what?

You have a 6MT, the torque engages the moment you let off the clutch.

Are you wanting the throttle to be wide open before 4800 RPMs?

Well, once I hit about 4500RPM, I can feel the max torque fully kick in. And if I understand correctly (I may not though lol) I can set the torque to fully open up at a lower RPM. Is that true? Or am I mistaken?

Uh, you can't adjust your torque curve. It is dictated by the characteristics of the motor.

Welcome to NICO!

With an 04, your best bet is to get a popcharger, z-tube, 5/16 plenum spacer, and aftermarket CAT-back exhaust. There isn't really any decent "chip" for our cars. Incidentally, you have to reflash the ECU; there isn't a removable chip. However this is a future option:

Thanks Joe, I'm planning to get a popcharger and possibly a full catback. Just depends on cashflow

Thanks for the info man!

I'm told the CobbTuning might be out beginning of next week for most models

One way to get more torque at low end is to tune your intake and exhaust. You can set it to maximize your torque at low end, but then you will loose torque at high end, which means your maximum power will go down.

If you get a chance, go to dragtimes.com and pull up a dyno from a G35 similar to yours (03-04 6MT coupe).

You'll be able to see the torque and HP curves and where the power is.

I'm not sure how much experience you have with manual transmissions, but your best bet is to keep yourself in the power band if you don't want lag.

In other words, keep your tach above 3k RPMs for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. 5th and 6th need to be well over 4k RPM to still have push.
