I am looking to buy an m. is there much of a diffrence between the 35 and the 45? i have a q45 now and the gas sucks, accellaration, and pretty much everything about the car im disgussted with. is the 35 worth it for the gas and price or is the 45 worth it for the better performance and bragging rights? please help.

The M35 is not much better in terms of gas mileage than an M45. You may see about 1 to 1.5 mpg max difference. Be prepared for low mileage in both cars ... not much better than your current Q45 really. So, please don't go into these cars expecting to improve gas consumption!

Overall performance of the M35 and M45 are similar too. The M45 just does the acceleration a bit more easily, with less of a strained feeling, but the end result is mostly the same - the gain in power and torque of the M45 compared to the M35 is mostly offset by the heavier engine.

OTOH, the maintenance cost of the V-6 is probably lower by a small amount ... fewer plugs, smaller oil capacity, etc., etc., etc.

The interior is pretty much identical, of course!

So, overall comment: they are both excellent cars and you would not go wrong with either.

Having said that, I personally prefer the M45 to the M35 ... only because of the ease with which the power and torque are made available in a V-8 compared to a V-6. My opinion, of course.

I prefer the 45 to the 35, just being able to have that extra power when need be is worth it to me, I know that the cars look identical but I cant help thinking that everytime I see a 35 it looks smaller for some reason, I know its just my perception and maybe cuz I drive a 45 and want it to be better

Either way both are great cars but for the small price diff....go with the 45

correct me if i am wrong, but the v-6 in our M is the same one in a LOT of nissan cars, so the meintenance is cheaper? I understand that this is why it is cheaper to mod as well. So if you plan to go crazy on mods and stuff I would think the 35 would be the way to go. Just my thoughts.

Sorry I was not clear.

I meant that the M35 is cheaper to maintain than the M45 ... I agree with you that the difference might indeed be more, since the V-6 is common to more of the Nissan lineup.

Plus, you are absolutely correct that there are many more mods available for the M35 - frankly, the M45 hardly has any!

It's also worth noting that the M35 has a bit better weight distribution with 100lbs less engine hanging over the front weels. That makes it quicker in fast transitions if that matters to you. There's also the matter of whether you prefer the low runble of a V8 or the brassy wail of the V6.

I will second (or third) the opinion that neither is an economy car by any stretch...

the response is definitely alot of help. its crazy but my q45 is only getting 16mpg and in the city its way low around 9. it sucks but its burning oil and makes all kinds of noise. i went to see the m last night. the dealer only had 35x there were 6 and only 2 had navigation. one had the ent pack with the lay back seats in the rear and tv as well. i never knew this car was loaded with these kind of options. its a great bang for your buck type of car. im mainly looking for the nav in silver, gray, white, or black. that seems to be the problem as of now. so will see. thanks
