Hey everyone just was wondering if there is any proven results of top feed vs side feed injectors? I know obviously the flow rate makes a difference but if your shooting for like 500-600 hp is there any difference in side vs top?

Thanks

Price. Top feed are always cheaper injector wise, but it depends on what your looking for, what you can find used at the time. Top requires that change in fuel rail, but sometime you can find those cheap. If your looking to go all brand new than top feed probably will save you money over all.

Certain types of injectors have a better spray pattern then others, this is pretty much the only real advantage that comes from an injector itself. I prefer top feeds because they are cheaper, more commonly used and I don't have to deal with leaks.

To me its easier/cheaper to stay side feed until you need a higher cc injector, say 550 and over go top feed. But I paid about $100 for my 480cc, so can't complain on that.

^^ Sorry didn't specify when I said cheaper. Biggie is right, you can find upgrades from SRs or WRX or something that would be cheaper than changing your hole fuel system, but the less available large injectors over 550 are definitely cheaper in a top feed version.

Yeah I got my side feed 550's for $200.

Im suprised no one has seen this,

Deatschwerks has come out with sidefeed 1000cc injectors, which is awesome.

I was going to go with Bosch 1000cc's but i'll probably go with DW now

Why does it seem like I've heard some bad things about DW lately? I know their service is awesome and anything that goes bad is replaced at no cost, but if a squirter fails, could be a big problem under boost.

Again, I can't point to specific events, anyone else hear anything bad about DW? I think EasyE had some issues...although that could easily have been op error :chuckle:

Thanks for all the input guys, I had a customer of mine and I really couldnt give him a str8 answer on this, but my question has been answered. Thanks. o im running 740cc DW injectors for about 5 months now and I havent had a single problem with them yet! (knock on wood) Greatest thing is I bought them used from an sr guy who though they were 370s because they were purple. I sent one out to get flow tested and they were 740cc woot!

How much hp are you getting from those 740cc's? I been thinking of switching to them.

top feed dont cool as well since theyre not bathed in the fuel like side feeds. you can get away with running a side feed a little harder at a higher duty cycle with less chance of failure than a top feed.

They make inline fuel coolers...then again you could use one with side feeds and extend that benefit. Not good to take the injectors to high into the duty cycle regardless of type though.
