That's where mine is. AEM recommends 36" away from the turbo.

in the middle of a straight section is always a plus and avoiding mouting it entering the pipe at 6 oclock so you don't break it off and to mitigate possible water damage in extreme situations. Also mark hole on the pipe while its on the car so you know you won't have interferance when installing it.

I welded mine just before the aft cat, then ran the wire up through the shifter. It makes the readings have a slight lag by having the sensor to far away. It equates to a few hundred rpm usually. Not really a big deal IMO.

How far should the 02 sensor be from the turbo?

each sensor will vary in what the recommended distance is but, i'd say anything over 24" is fine (where mine is). I've seen them mounted 6" off the turbo and the sensors last a couple seasons. Aem recommends to have it angled at least 10 degrees above horizontal.

an inch further down than nelson8708's angled downwards a little is where i have mine. whats the usual life of these widebands? the manual for mine said 500 hours..which is mathematically challenging for me to figure out in miles..
