Well, I did a little looking.. and i got all the FSMS off the web..

After looking at the CA, and SR bellhousings... the end where it attaches to the gears is exactly identical.. I believe SR and CA trannys will swap at the bellhousing NO problem.. Download the PDF's and search for yourself...

what you have to think of is the spigot size and the input shaft size ..splines etc

NOw, is the gear ratio on the SR the same the as the CA?If it is the same, why the headache of converting the sr into ca transmission? If not, than that makes sense if the SR has a better gear ratio

Hum,So, the gear ratio is the same just the fact that availability is an issue.

I gotta spare 5spd CA transmission if any one interested

Wait, wait, wait. The SR and CA DO NOT have the same exact same gearing internally,(5th gear is different) and the CA's had different rear end gearing too. http://www.nissansilvia.co.nz/...e.htm

Quote »NOw, is the gear ratio on the SR the same the as the CA?[/quote] That's a good question! On the FWD SRs, they use the smaller spline while the CA uses the bigger maxima, stanza, 300zx spline. Gearing-wise, the FWD CA gearboxes have a linger final drive than the the SRs. The RWD SRs seem to have shorter gears the RWD CA vehicles. My friend who has the 509whp KA also feels the CA has longer gears than the KA; but definitely longer than the SR. If you want shorter gears, then I guess it would be wise to do the SR swap. But I say this, make the power to power through the gears and get a better top end less the engine stress.

hey pulsar, i may have to check with you about that sometime in the future, my transmission grinds in 3rd when you shift into it in the low-mid rpm range. hope it isnt going but if it is, oh well. maybe i can rebuild it with custom gear ratios and/or convert it to a dog box.
