Does your sub sound better/louder pointing up, or back? LMK.

Hey Turbo. I have run a couple different sub setups in my 91 hatchback and I gotta say its all about what size of sub and power handling.Plus what kind of music you listen too. I am running my 12s pionting back right now and they sound pretty clear and distotion free(2-12s 1000w max peak)with only 250 watts into each. Being an installer for many years I also have heard good fiberglass boxes and sparetire boxes. But if you want good response and hard hitting sound I would slot load the subs. Just build the box so the subs fire into the floor (with about 2-3inches between the sub and floor.) Slot loading subs requires less power and you can retain a sealed box design.

pound em straight up at the hatch, with slot port facing straight up as well... sound reflects off of rear hatch towards the front of the car, and you get decent SQ... if you're going for SQ, then facing them rearwards typically sounds the best, but isn't the greatest for SPL

SQ is sound quality and SPL is the Sound Pressure Level and it's measured in decibels (db)... so in otherwords, a system built for SPL is meant to rattle the car to peices.......

mine sounds the loudest with the sub pointing towards the taillights. it reflects off the hatch and comes straight to you. it also looks the best imo.
