I got 2 sets of hid kits

1. 5000k Xlight hid2. 6000k Xentec hid

First setup, I hooked 6000k Xentec hid bulbs to my Xlight ballasts for low beams and temperature of the bulbs read about 90 degrees F.

Second setup, I hooked 5000k Xlight bulbs to my Xentec ballasts for fog lights and temperature of the bulbs were 180 DEGREESSS...

After about 5-10 minutes, OEM fog light housings got FREAKING HOTTT....I had to turn off fog lights right away...afraid these bulbs will melt the fog light housings.....

Do you think switching different bulbs brand to another ballast brand can affect its operation? I think not, right????

How hot do your hid bulbs get???????

i would say that switching the bulbs would be fine if they were both 5000k or both 6000k, but switching them when one is 5000k and one is 6000k is a problem

***update***

I swapped the Xentec bulbs to Xentec ballasts and Xlight bulbs to Xlight ballasts. Same results. The temp ranges from 180-210 degrees F I took the both Xentec and Xlight bulbs out and took a reading, the bulbs got up to 313 DEGREES( ).

I guess I will run 6000k xentec bulbs for low beams and 5000k xlight for fogs. Hopefully it wont burn the fog light housing up.

update

Everything seems ok. I guess I was a little nervous about the fact the fogs get too hold that can cause the housings to melt. Been running for about 2-3 weeks now with no problem. I figured that when the car is moving, the air will cool down the fog covers and everything else in the front. No worries.
