Where do you find those cams, and what are the specs? anyone else? or do most people just up grade the turbo?

I am thinking about spending all my money on headgasket and fully upgrade my valvetrain.

But will the valvetrain upgrade increase HP itself? Or is it just a better insurance for higher RPM and boost?

I have cams, but no idea what the hell they are, make my SR idle like ****, but when you get on the gas you can feel it (or maybe that's paritally the turbo) :D I've heard suggested that if you want to go with some good cams get the 256 or 264 cams, mild enough so that it won't make your car have a crappy idle. Most valvetrain upgrades are insurance against problems at higher RPMs and higher boost levels. As part of my Stage I build-up, I'm doing valve springs, rocker arm stoppers and a 1.2mm metal head gasket. None of those are going to produce any more horsepower.

Cams and adjustable cam sprockets will help your engine make more power. Your best reference to find out which cams are good for your car, would be to look at other vehicles with similar power levels, and figure out what they are using.

the best setup to run for a street car is 264 intake/ 272 exhaust and get a exhaust cam gear so you can retard the exhaust timing a little.

HKS STEP 1's in our 240sx shop car.Gives a great powerband, shifts the power more to the right. extends farther with the addition of the greddy intake manifold.

We're going to be testing 272s very soon.

454 HP on stock bottom end. Gotta love stock carrillo rods.

Do you have a baseline for that motor before the cams? to see what kinda power increases they made?

That is a very nice dyno curve. That is what I'm looking for out of my HKS 264 stage 2s and my GT3040 turbo.-James
