Went to check out getting fogs installed in my car and the guys at the shop said to go get the lighting assembly from the dealer since it could take a while to find the parts themselves?

wtf?

This sounds like your installer being lazy. What's the difference between him getting it and you getting it? I'm sure you're both within 30 miles of your dealer.
