Ever since I bought my convertible 240sx, the only thing Ive heard is bad comments on how it looks. I show ppl pics and the majority of the time they say, "You like that!?" :eek I dont understand. I think it is a pretty nice looking car, nice bang for your buck if you go turbo. The power of a 350z and convertible for under 10k. Anyways I need some advice.. Im doing a 5 speed swap, and Im thinking about doing the white bunny special so later on I wont have to worry about it, or I can do a stock 240sx setup for less than $200 with military discount from AdvanceAutoParts. Do yall think I should just spend the money on a 280z fidanza fly ($300) 90-96 NA 300zx stock clutch & PP ($180) OR Stock 240sx fly ($50-$60) and stock clutch & PP ($140)

Not sure what to do. If I spend less on the transmission setup saves me money for wheels / tires and suspension (my budget per wife) But a good transmission setup for now, and get wheels and stuff later - I have everything to go turbo except injectors and EMS, just holding off until everything is right. What would yall do?

f*** what other people say about your car as 99% of them will be looking at your tail lights when your done with the engine modifications.

Our cars are still in that awkward teenage phase...not new enough to be spiffy, not quite old enough to be "vintage" or "classic". Soon, however, they will be "cool" again. Personally, I love the way the car looks, despite its fairly plain lines. Good luck with your transmission swap...shouldn't be too hard! :)

There was a rash of kids on NICO a few years ago who hated the way the verts looked. But they also disliked coupes. Most people I've met in person have only said good things about the looks of the verts

people loved my car, i dont know whats with the people in your area. You mightve been talking to the rice guys who think all cars need body kits and euroclears

as far as transmission stuff goes, i would get a lightweight fly wheel with an exedy clutch

Alot of people don't like convertibles in pics, but in person it's a different story... I used to not like the verts at all, but got an offer on a trade and started looking into them, and now I LOVE it...

Hate to hear about the "haters". I guess I'm lucky...I live in a town without many tuner type cars (but I don't consider my car a tuner style car either)...all my closest friends have late 60's early 70's Muscle Cars, and most of those are purely drag cars...so you would think I would really get harped on, well...I do...lol...but all my friend love my car. One of my buddies told me he really likes that I "went against the grain" and got something different. What is really cool to me is when I go to the Drag Strip in my car...I will have more peeps come look at my car then most of my friends that have drag cars there. But, some people will just not like your car...so what...as long as you enjoy it, that should be good enough.
As for the clutch set-up...I would go with the light weight flywheel and better clutch, you will thank yourself in the long run. So what if you wait another 6 months to a year to save up on wheels/tires. But I wouldn't skimp on them either.

Hate to say it, but a lot of those tastes are based on the person's age. People under 25 just won't have the eye for the the 90's import look.

Most people I talk to always say that they like the coupes better. However, I have gotten a couple compliments about it from some older people, which is more rewarding than some ricer saying that my car is cool. Its your car man, if you like it, thats what matters. In all honesty, I'm at a point where I like how the verts look more than how the hatches and coupes look.

obviously i love the appearance of the vert, and who cares what other people think. i mean everyone likes to be envy'd but what matters most is do you like the car. and i have come to notice that most of the people that say they hate the way the car looks are looking for one them selves, lol. i think its kind of a jealousy thing. but that s*** is childish anyways, so who cares. as for the flywheel and clutch, if your gonna replace parts why not upgrade??? if it were me id get a light weight flywheel and at most a stg3 clutch, stg 2 would be fine though im sure, i dont know what mods you have, but since your asking this question i can assume no engine swap or anything of that nature.

They may not like the appearance of the convertible.

But when I roll into a meet in mine, their girlfriends / wives all want to go for a spin in it. :)

...just sayin'...

What people do you run into? Every time i go to the dealership, someone working there offers to buy mine. I have a 05 mustang gt with mods and i actually think i enjoy driving this stock 92 240vert more...of course the top has to be down :chuckle:

Someone offered $10,000 for my car, and told him it's not for sale.

You guys sure can make a convertible look nice P:

I didn't like the either, until I seen peoples convertibles on this site. There was a clean white one for sale, I didn't know the convertibles came automatic only...and it was really cheap too. Like two grand.

I came to the realization that why are we caring about what guys think about our cars. 98% of women love convertibles and I bet that the guys who criticize are honda (ricer) drivers or drive a piece of junk like a beat up cavalier. I was at a car meet and i overheard some guy said he didnt like my car but his girlfriend, or whatever that thing was, said it was nice looking

I have owned several very nice cars but nothing gets as much attention or is as fun to drive as a convertible. And a convertible gets the right kind of attention. It is true what they say about girls and convertibles! Plus I noticed the police don't give me the hard looks they did in other cars. This is my first one but I don't think I ever want a car with a fixed roof again.

I get a lot of s*** from the coupe guys too. Everything from its heavy to it looks like a girls car. I honestly don't care because I think it is awesome and I like being unique because not many people mod convertibles these days. And when you line em up with a coupe and own it the victory is that much sweeter.

I like when I get asked what's so limited edition about it. I get a lot of compliments on mine. People at work bash it though.

I love coupes, and never really looked at verts much. I've had a couple hatches and coupes, and ended up coming across a vert. I wanted a 240 again and it was something different for me so I grabbed it. I eventually got used to it and I love the vert now. I'll be honest, from some angles I think it looks eh, but overall it's a great car and I'd never get rid of mine. I do miss having a coupe though.

Usually people who dont like how mine look, love under the hood. Most people like how it looks tho when its all together. I guess its the silvia front? Idk...
