Recently fixed a couple of MIL codes - p1441 small leak & left lower O2 sensor heater. I found the small leak and replaced the 02 sensor. So I've been driving the vehicle to get the obd2 monitors in the ready state but it's been 600km over the last week now and the 02 readiness monitor still says it's incomplete. The O2 heater says that it's good. I need the test done to renew my plates which I'm now late...

I've been checking everynight and there is a pending p0302 (cyl 2 misfire) code but the MIL light is still off. What does a pending code really mean in this case (detected but not recurring that it's not considered a real problem at this point - it's running good)? I found out that in Ontario, you can get a readiness conditional pass if you having trouble getting all your monitors to the ready state (with conditions), but I'm not sure whether that pending p0302 code will be an issue/fail (light is off) ? and wondering perhaps if this is in some way holding up the last of the obd ready monitors (code relates to ignition, not o2).

Any insight would be appreciated,
Jaime

Try to change your driving habits be a little agressive but not enough for the OPP to know your name. on the Highway try to go the speed limit with nobody behind you get off the throttle let it coast..watch the speed come down a bit then press the throttle to giver some gas to get up the speed again ... is mostly highway driving ? 600 KMs is a lot for the OB2 not to be in ready state .

For the heck of it at this point i would reset all codes and let it get back to the ready state ... i'm sure others will chime in with much better solutions :)

Pending means the code was seen once, but has not yet reoccurred. It needs to be seen at least one more time for the code to be set. Actron says it takes 40 engine warm up cycles before the code is automatically cleared (assuming it did not reoccur). Thats a bunch.

I agree with greengumby - you may as well clear it yourself - sounds like it was kind of a one off thing.

In the manual, EC-65 , 66, and 67 tell you how to do a drive cycle to get to the ready state. I've not had to do that, but it looks like to set the o2 sensors you need to drive several minutes with the accelerator pedal held steady. You might check that out.

Called he MTO about it and found out that the pathfinder is allowed one not ready monitor (on a first test) as a pass. Not only that, they also have a conditional not ready pass where two test have to be done, minimum 24 hrs apart with > 30kms driven and obd cannot have been reset inbetween. Wish the guys at the emissions test facility knew this or would have informed me the other evening.

And yes, I finally thought to do the same as was suggested and change-up my driving habit and get a bit more aggressive - so I just went out and checked and of course now all of the monitors are now showing as completed. the p0302 is also gone but replaced by a pending p0158 (if memory serves) - good grief Charlie Brown!

I'm going to get the test done today on way home - that new pending code better not flip when I hand the keys over at the emissions test centre - getting a little bit paranoid.

thanks for your input.

success... they made me sweat though. they checked the oil and it was low and told me I could come back afterwards or they could put in some. I always carry a litre and they were happy to put it in for me. need to do the oil change tomorrow as I knew I was way overdue.
