I have a 2000 I30 and the alternator didn't keep the voltage up when I was driving and the electronics acted up. The only noticeable problem currently is the Tachometer pegged way past redline. Is there any easy fix to get the tachometer functioning again.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset the electronics. Unless you already did that to change the alternator.

No luck with leaving the battery disconnected. I then restarted the car to see if the tachometer would function normally but it stayed pegged. I don't think the car's computer is messed up I just think the gauge needs to be reset but I was wondering if anybody knew more on the topic. Thanks

those alternator/electrical things are strange.

when the alt. went out on my QX4, all of my gauges were batty. The tach was all over the place and the lights (it has a backlit gauge cluster) were flickering. I knew what the problem was, but I just had to limp it home.

It sat at a shop for several days because we had over a foot of snow and the part was held up because they closed the freeways.

When I got it back, everything was working OK.
