It was pissing rain today when I was going about 90km/h or so I had to break hard for a pipe that fell off a truck several car lengths up... the tires did not skid however I felt a single "clunk" in the brake pedal. Wondering what the hell it was, I tried to do it again and managed to get the same result going much slower with the same pedal pressure. Clunk.

Is this ABS/traction control or is there a bigger issue that I should be looking at?

Any suggestions would be great :)

Im having the same issues bro...i just posted a topic today and hopefully will get the answer. it seems my "clunk" is more noticable after a wash or on an incline in reverse. I was told by a friend to check the joint shafts or ball joints (correct me if im wrong) and see if they are loose. I'll watch this post and hopefully someone will have a answer. If i figure it out first ill give you a email..good luck!

I've also just found this doing a search on this forum it may also help you..the topic was "Brake Click" in the technical posts. Heres a quote:

Well I noticed that i was getting some clunk when braking going slow and when turning around in a parking lot or something. While i was under my car a little while ago i noticed that both of the tension control rod bushing were all broken apart and leaking the clear viscous liquid. I came across these at PDM Racing:

http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/suspensiontc.html

I ordered these and they are on their way. I'm hoping this will fix some of the problems i'm seeing. Here is a quote from that page:

Quote »One of the most troublesome bushings on the 240SX and 300ZX, this silicone filled "donut-shaped" bushing which is pressed into the Tension Control rod, is one of the first bushings that wears out. When it fails, the viscous filling will leak out, and corrode your front suspension's paint finish, and will cause erratic steering (especially at highway speeds). The front end will also make a "clunk" noise when you make tight turns. Fix the problem with these Whiteline replacement bushings.[/quote]

Take your undercover off and look at these rod bushings to see if they're falling apart... hope that helps.

I've only felt the clunk while it was raining... when I tried hard breaking in dry conditions, I didn't get the clunk. If it were the bushings, wouldn't I feel it all the time? I don't experience any steering problems as a result.

One more thing.. How hard is it to replace these bushings? I dont want to install news ones and be cruising around doing a buck and change and my tires fall off...heh
