Since Pearl only gets the best, we went to the local Infiniti dealer to get her first oil change. If you remember, I met her in the middle of the showroom floor 5 months ago. She has only traveled 2500 miles in that time, but she was asking for some new dino juice. (when it comes to oil, I believe telcoman’s right)

I made an appointment for an oil change with the service department. When I arrived I was 3rd. in line and had to wait all of 5 seconds before greeted the first time. Everyone was polite and helpful. And to their credit, they did not put one of those stupid magnetic hats on her.

The oil change was $44.34. That included 5 qts of my favorite, Valvoline 10/30 dino goo, a genuine factory filter and a 27 point inspection including adding air to the tires, brakes, fluids, etc. They even used a new drain plug washer. Pearl was dirty from a trip through a swarm of little bugs the previous day. There were bugs stuck on top of bugs with bugs sticking on top of those. Not when they brought her back to me though, She was clean as the day I drove her home. They even cleaned the inside of the windows where my dog writes with her nose.

They had maybe 30 G sedans, and 10 coupes in the lot. The sedans ranged from $35,350 to over 40k. 95% were 5ATs and I didn’t see one X (not needed in SoCal). The coupes were all $39,000 to $43,000. Didn’t see one 6MT or a X models either. All coupes had the $1000 sunroof option (not part of the prem. package with the coupe) The S package was on most of the coupes, but only about 1/3 of the sedans. Not 1 used G though, none, nada, zip.(There was a red coupe that could have fit nicely into my desires. Dang, that car looks good in red.)

The Ms were nice. No 4.5s though. The 3.5s ran a low of $44something to $50k. Several of them had the S package. I didn’t see any X models. They were delivering a pearl white one with chrome wheels to a couple when I was there. Beautiful car.

All things said, you really have to love Infiniti.

Thank you

My wife doesn't always agree that I'm right but as far as cars go she believes that all you have to do it put gas in it and go.

I love my G even though it does consume a little oil. Just checked it and it used about a 1/2 qt over 2k miles since my last oil change. I use 5w-30 and change it myself as I put on 2k mi a month and would be constantly running back to the dealer. When I change my oil in about 2 weeks, I will be rotating the tires and changing my air and cabin filters. Probabily save about $200 doing that myself.

I changed the oil in both G's yesterday.Mobil 1 syn. 5 qrt jugs $21 x 2 (talk to some mech.s on the yumminess)Nissan filters $4.50 x 2comes to $51 for both....and, no waiting! AND, I put a fresh coat of Zaino on the Cobra.

There seems to be several used G's in my area on the lot.

I've noticed a few coupes sitting on the lots for months. There was a red 04 with 40K miles 5at that the VW dealer wanted $26k for then, they dropped it to $23K. Then, they called me and offered it to me for $18.8K before it went back to auction.Saw it the next day at the local Chevy dealer for $23k

The local Nissan dealer has a low mileage 06 sedan, 04 X, and 04 coupe....The coupe is BLACK

Yeah, but did you replace the drain plug washers? That's another 10 cents or so.

Actually, while Pearl is still in the warranty period, I'd rather have all the recommended service done at the dealer. That way, their records prove that I've met my responsibility as far as keeping the car current with service. After the warranty, I'll consider otherwise.

I just don't like working on cars that much anymore.

I don't use the drain plug, I use a wine bottle cork.

I still enjoy working on my cars. It's also more convenient for me to do some of the maintenance myself as opposed to taking it somewhere. The washing and waxing is also pretty good exercise - especially when you do two or four at a time.
