This is for all the peaple that are lookin for help with the "my engine wont start/bogs down/runs rough, please help..." kinda questions. Not that peaple (myself included) dont like giving help, its just, you can help yourself, and help us help you alot better.First and foremost, CHECK YOUR BASICS!!! i cant stress this enough. are yougetting fuel? Air? Spark? Compression? Then Check, your timing, Air filter, MAF(dirty, plugged in...etc) Sparkplugs, cap, rotor, injectors, all the basics. start narrowing your options by checking these and eliminating them. Also since these cars are old, check for worn/damaged wires and connectors. Make sure connections are tight and good( like no corrosion.)Posts like " mycar runs rough" "whats your maintanence like?" " oh, i bought it last year, and havent done anything, you think its my head gasket?" that ish just doesnt fly. I know that not everyones a mechanic and no one has all the answers ( i am in no way saying i know everything or anywhere close to it) But come on, you gotta at least put in the effort before you post askin peaple to fix your car, over the internet from the other side of the US. Scenario: Car wont start, but cranks slowly. Check the battery voltage, check your grounds, good? Check your voltage/connection at the starter, lil stuff like that. Also, you need to invest in some tools. You cant expect anyone to help you if you cant check voltage or have a basic socket now can you? And PLEASE look at a FSM (factory service manual) there free and on this site. Read the stickies on the top off the page now and agian. Theres usually some good info in there.Secondly on this ill typed rant, WHEN YOU ASK A QUESTION, PLEASE PLEASE give the best description you can!!! saying your car wont start doesnt mean JACK! Does it crank? fast or slow? do you get dash lights/warning chimes? HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR BASICS, have you done anything such as repairs or modifications, if so what and when? Dont get pissed when someone says to recheck/redo your work. alot of times youll find your answer that way.

And to close with, we recapCheck your Basics!!! always!Give a detailed explanation of what is goin on:Whats happening/when it started/what have you done.Dont get pissed when someone asks for more info, there just tryin to help.If you post a question, without even poping your hood, or without checking anything yourself, you deserve to be hated on.Hope this helps someone

At least you can hold your head up and say "I tried".

I agree that A LOT of problems would be solved with just a little effort.

If you don't know where to start then just give the car a good general tune-up. It will fix many things and won't hurt. Worst case you know what is NOT bad.

Not really, although you were just stating the obvious; some people are just way too lazy. It just takes a lot of patience from both sides. I'm not a mech , but i talk to a lot of my friends and read everyone's sad stories. Mines is similar but when i try to start it i only hear a relay clicking in the relay box under the air filter. I already tried replacing all the relays and the starter relay, nothing. tomorrow i'll be checking starter and voltage at ignition and starter. This is a much appreciated forum site, thanks everyone!
