Well, My QX56 is expected any day now... so this is the plan I have been workign on all week for the cleaning process...
I have been working out details on the PDI process with the dealer the last few days... Getting them to not do anything other than peel off the prtective coatings, and I've hired a guy to do the cleaning and stuff for me...
I have him setup to clay bar the whole car, and give it a super duper cleaning inside and out. Then stick on the once piece 3M for the whole front of the car so there is no join lines for the entire hood area, bumper and front fenders!
I'm expecting an excellent Job....
I have cleaned out the entire garage, and I have had the floors blasted with steel balls, and recoated so the garage is going to be perfectly clean for him to work for the 2 or 3 days he says this will take... I'm pretty excited to see how this is going to turn out...
I'm told this process removes all the rail dust, which sticks to the clear coat and rusts.. so this will be a good step for long term look of the paint. Plus I will avoid all the dealer swirls they create with the "power buff" they planned on doing...
After thats all done they are applying this polymer wax for some extra protection...
This guy I'm using comes high recommended from several people I know, and I'm expecting some really big results from him...
I'll try and post some before/after pics of the process for those that are interested...
