Has anyone replaced the pcv valve on the ka? The OEM manual doesn't really give any instructions. From the looks of it, it appears that the intake manifold has to come out to even get to it....i hope im wrong...

Anyways, I keep getting oil coming out of the valve cover down the vaccum line into the throttle-body and onto the street. I'm losing about 1 quart of oil every few weeks. I'm just assuming the pcv valve is dead.

I did a compression test and came up with 190-180-182-185, pretty good for 135k. (Although i think my timing chain is going out, it sounds like marbles in my engine whenever i press/depress the throttle.)

i have on the SOHC, you definately do NOT have to take off the manifold. You just disconnect the hose, and unscrew the valve, and put the new valve in, and replace the hose. Im not sure that the PCV valve is your problem however. Its located, directly under "ECCS" on the manifold. I dont know if the DOHC is different.....

This would be the ka24de....and from the looks of it, it is unreachable, covered by the intake manifold...

You might want to do a search or try http://www.240sx.org faqs but I believe you need to take out the alternator in order to reach the pcv valve. I heard its a pain to do.

The PCV valve is located on the right side of the throttle body(ECCS) , you may have to unbolt the throttle cable assembly to reach the the valve. Your best bet is to get the part ahead of time so you know what you are looking for. The PCV valve will look like a nut coming out of a hose connected directly to the right side of the throttle body.

This is in a Ka24e, easy, 5 to 10 minutes...but the Ka24De, not easy, maybe 3 hours

I replaced mine when I replaced the timing chain. Once you have everything stripped for the chain, its fairly easy to get to it. If you dont wanna replace the chain (you should), theres a little box bolted to the block somewhere below the thermostat housing. You will have to remove some stuff to get to it. The box is a baffle of sorts to keep oil away from the PCV, which screws into the back of it.
