I have a old POS desktop that I'm going to give to a friend of my sisters who can't afford to buy a new PC after their old clunker bit the big one. Unfortunately the POS I have only has 128MB of PC600 memory (2ea 64MB) which makes Windows load sloooooooowly.

Anyone have 4ea 128MB pc600 cards laying around going to waste? Obviously I don't want to pay much for it :ohno:

Oh my that's old memory. Sorry but I only have DDR2 ram lying around.

If you can't find any, try:

Also PC800 is way cheaper than 600, if they are compatible it might help.

Yeah...this is a giveaway PC and not worth spending 50-bux on memory after shipping. It's a P4 1.2GHz or something.

Jesus, I don't even know where they went after we moved, but I did have 4 64MB PC600 cards laying around. Would have helped, at the very least. No clue where they went now though. They were out of some ancient project that I built from scratch just to see if I could do it without looking up instructions, haha. I'll ask my mom to look around my room (I'm back in CA, cards are in TN,) but I can't really guarantee anything.

EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, it very well may have been 128MB. It's been a while since I've seen them.

Does it have to be PC-600? And only 128? I know I've got 2-3 gigs of DDR at home somewhere (I believe two one gig sticks and two 512 sticks). If I have them and they work I'll give em to you for free. I've got no use for them...

Not necessarily. I'll have to pull up the PC model number to see what that PC will accept.

EDIT:

Memory
Architecture RDRAM
RIMM sockets four
RIMM capacities 64-, 128-, 256-, and 512-MB RDRAM
Standard RAM 128 MB (minimum)
Maximum RAM 2 GB

Shame it isn't DDR, old school RDRAM isn't a common thing for computer users to have lying around.

Yeah. Pretty much time to pull the HD and scrap the rest. Hell, the HD is probably pretty small and worthless too.

Yeah and most likely isn't a SATA drive. I would just use the drive for shooting practice.

"Pull!"

I'm replacing my p4 2.58GHz HTPC with a better one and will have that one "free" so at this point I'm just going to scrap this POS.

I appreciate the offer :)
