I'm not really an MMO kind of person at all. I played Guild Wars back when it was new and tired of it quickly. I play WoW but mostly solo or with "real life" friends...only reason I picked it up is because it's a Warcraft game. All the free ones are to thin gameplay-wise to hold my interest.

I played Star Wars: Galaxies for a short while and hated it. Took me another 3 years to enter the foray again with City of Heroes/City of Villains. Those are pretty good, but still very limiting.

Looking forward to Champions Online. I really like what I've seen of it so far.

If they'd make an MMO either based on Half-Life or Mass Effect, I'd be on it like Rush Limbaugh on Oxycontin.

Half Life: The Resistance. Human or Vort, pick your race. Fight the fights Freeman's too busy to handle himself. Bring down the other Cities. Take back the Earth.

While I agree that would be cool, I think keeping it just on earth would eventually make it too repetitive in terms of the types of missions. That's exactly what happened in City of Heroes. Now if you could go to all the other worlds where the Combine has a presence as well, then that's something else.

I still want a BF1942-type mod for HL2 where one side is resistance and the other is combine, complete with vehicles. Yeah, I wanna be a Strider or a Gunship.

Xen is still there, although presumably overrun by Combine. There's the Vort's homeworld we still haven't visited, too (which is where I'm hoping HL3 will take us).

I just watched a twenty minute developer walkthru off Gametrailers on Star Wars The Old Republic and it was awesome! I have never played a MMO but I will reserve a copy of this game...I must own it!

I watched that same walkthrough, and it looks like a great game.

The big issue I have with it is the dialog system. It's not really well-suited to an MMO environment. Sure, a singleplayer game like Mass Effect where you're free to take your time is great. But an MMO where other people depend on you is not the place to be bogging down in dialog, even if it is used for character development.

I was wondering about that also because you won't be able to sit there and think about your responses and what to do with other people depending on you and your actions it has to be on the fly.

I've been playing WoW for 2 weeks now and I hate it. The only thing I like is the alliance v hoarde ctf pvp thing, and I'm too low a level to do that well. I also refuse to pay for all the expansions just so I can compete in the higher levels. I'm sticking with 2moons for fantasy MMO. It's free it doesn't look like a cartoon, YOU CAN SELL YOUR ITEMS WHEN YOU ARE DONE WITH THEM. I hate all the soulbound crap in WoW. Almost NOTHING is soulbound in 2moons. For the money I would have spent to buy 1 WoW expansion I can buy a ton of Dshop s*** from Acclaim.

I was an EQ addict for a while. I can remember napping in the spare room, camping an 18 hour spawn with the speakers up full to alert me to any hostiles. I had a moment of clarity and quit a month or so after that. That was years ago.

The closest to that I've gotten since then was Phantasy Star Online on the Xbox (too bad Phantasy Star Universe was so awful). To me, Borderlands looks like a Mad Max version of PSO and I may end up picking it up for the 360. The other option, depending on the port quality, is Champions Online on the 360.

I do still play the original Neverwinter Nights with some friends, but its far from the addicting EQ, its more like IRC with a gui & monsters - friends chatting while slaughtering hordes of helpless beasties.

PSO was fun. A friend of mine had the GCN version.

If you liked NWN, you should check out Dragon Age: Origins if you haven't already. Comes out in November and it's Bioware's latest NWN/BG style game. It's REALLY heavily story driven, but perhaps the coolest aspect of it is the incredible toolset that'll be available for developing your own content. Looks like it should be a lot of fun.

You know, ages ago I never thought I'd make the jump...but I'm pretty much a console gamer now. Besides the original NWN the only other stuff I play on the PC are other oldies that I love: Diablo, Starfleet Command 2 (best of the 3 installments), Army Men (I love that old 3DO game) and Silent Hunter II. I've even got Silent Hunter III and never bothered to install it.

I keep hearing rumours of PC & console MMO's one day sharing the same server...I'll believe it when I've been power leveled for a while. I think this was the goal with Age of Conan, but I lost interest when the 360 version got delayed over and over. Now its scheduled for 2010. Maybe the integration is causing some problems? Has anyone here played it? Is it worth even thinking about?

It would take a lot for me to jump back full tilt into PC gaming again. The other thing is that the gap between PC & console isn't quite as wide as it used to be. The one game that could really get my inner geek to do it is probably Star Trek Online (lets hope its better than the Star Wars MMO).

Actually, I'd say it is. And with PCs being cheaper than ever, it's easier than ever to get a PC that'll blow either big console away. If you want proof, I can experiment and see how many instances of my hacked super-high-shinies (not even remotely possible on the xbox version) version of Mass Effect I can run simultaneously without dragging the framerate below the 50fps limiter.

Age of Conan is supposedly crap. It's undergone at least one MAJOR overhaul because it was so poorly recieved. It's also mainly pvp-based, which I have no interest in.

STO is two-faced. The shipside aspect looks incredible, with fantastic slow, tactical battles on a massive scale. The planetside (on-foot) aspect looks pretty generic, though, and could be bad.

SWG might have been meh, but the new Star Wars MMO (Old Republic) looks excellent (aside from the dialog system).

I have been wanting to play WOW since I am a big Warcraft fan. But no, I can't even try it. It's worst than drugs man.

It doesn't play like Warcraft, but there IS a lot of nostalgia for those of us who have fond memories of WC I and II. III sucked so I never did much with it.

I mean...friggin' Deathwing is finally coming back next expansion! I've been waiting for that since WoW came out. Do you like fire? I'm full of it!

Imagine playing as 1 of the guys you build, and that's KINDA like WoW. Other than using the same cannon, it's nothing like warcraft.

World of Warcraft. Used to play Guild Wars, but it wasn't anywhere as good as WoW.

You mean like half the WCIII single player campaign missions? Where you spend your time walking around with ONE freaking unit? Yeah, I don't have to imagine it. I can just play WCIII. But I won't, because it sucks. Freaking upkeep can suck my sweaty vortigaunt balls.

Yeah, I got bored with WCIII within 5 minutes. WCII was awesome, especially on B.net.

WCII is king. Especially with the expansion. Making new sound effects for it is tons of fun, too.
