The DII patch got me thinking...who actually still uses 4:3 these days? Steam's hardware survey results show 1280x1024 (4:3) to be the most widely used resolution by their users. 21% use it. 1680x1050 is in 2nd place at 18%, and it is a 16:10 wide resolution. 3rd place is another 4:3 resolution: 1024x768 (people can still stand to look at resolution that low?!)

I'm surprised to see so many people still stuck on 4:3 monitors. I wonder if that reflects how rarely people actually buy monitors. You'd have to try pretty hard to find a 4:3 monitor anymore.

So...is your primary PC monitor wide or 4:3?And if it's not wide, why?

1680x1050....if my GPU can handle it. Though I don't play many PC games...

I know in certian instances when I have to tone down my resolution, I have to take on a 4:3 mode because there is no in game support for lower level widescreen resolutions.

I also know that people don't always have the money to upgrade GPU's or monitors...I mean, my brother is still running a 19" 4:3 monitor from 6 years ago...it's still good, why buy a new one?

I've got dual Apple 20"Cinema Displays 1680x1050. I'm hoping to upgrade to 3x 24" displays or adding a matching 23" cinema display to the current setup.

Nothing at all wrong with good ol' CRTs. Picture quality is STILL better than most LCDs. But they're hard to find anymore and take up a lot less space. I can fit two LCDs on my desk or one CRT. Even though the CRT looks better, I'd rather have two monitors.
