I just bought rFactor for the PC, and I have to say its a damn good game.Aside from the fact that it ships with less cars and tracks then GT4, it has it beat in every way. The feeling of the cars is so good, and the tuning is simply rediculous.

From tire pressure, to brake rotor thickness, you can tune the **** out of these cars.On top of that they have basic sliders such as "oversteer-understeer" automaticaly re-shape the cars tune for people who don't quite understand the differences in settings slow and fast rebound settings...

The free demo is avalible at http://www.rfactor.net/If you buy it make sure to check out http://www.rfactorcentral.com/ for all kinds of cars and tracks to add on to the game....(some one even made the top gear test track, though its a work in progress and currently looks like crap)

If you have a logitec wheel for you play station you should be able to plug that into the usb of your computer just fine, its what I'm using.

If anyone has this, or gets it let me, and we will set up some races

woot! thread isn't a complete failure....

I still suck at this game, the AI is fast. Most of it is I still only know a track or two REALLY well but even on those I was only beating the AI by three tenths of a second a lap, compared to GT4 where you could usually pull a couple of seconds.

The Historic Rally pack is sweet, has most of the classic rally cars you could want.

Do the cars show damage or do they just magically stay intact and handle worse.

Show damage/leave parts on track...Though I don't think you can get damaged by the debris though.

If you have a wheel, d/l it and give it a shot. The demo comes with BMW F1 car, and doesn't take THAT long to download as long as you have a reasonable connection.

Damn I wish my Laptop could handle this I almost impulse purchased that new logitech G25 wheel set with the gated 6spd the other day, untill I realized my 360 dosen't support it and all the cool PC sim that do won't run.

I got the leather wrapped Logitech MOMO that I used to play F1 99-02 from ea sports. How much is this game?

$40 But oh well a game costing $40 isn't that much..

free demo though...2 tracks 2 cars just so you can't blame me if you don't like it :P

oldman, did you d/l and try it?

I have a decent computer, but still cant max out most games...I run this on full everything. The system specs they give on the website would have made me guess I would have to turn it down...

Matter o fact I run this game on max, with firefox and itunes playing in the backround and its fine...

No I just looked at the spec. and assumed..........I like to assume things, but if you say that they they overrated the requirements them than im gonna give it a go. Do you know if the PS2 driving force pro wheel will wonk in Xp?

it is what I am using, though to have the force feedback work I think you have to d/l the drivers....They don't technicaly list drivers on the logitec page for this wheel, as it was designed for PS2, however the drivers are pretty universal, so just download one of the other wheels drivers and it should work...It wil even recognize that its a DFP wheel.

Also for logitech wheels the force feedback needs to be set to a negative number. You will see how on the slider for it not to hard...if you don't do this all the force feed back is backwards

I dunno how good your laptop is but give the demo a try before you write off your computer.

lol, I actualy suck pretty bad at it...But Ill race you some. Don't buy it counting on me.

There are all kinds of crazy leagues though. Some people get intense. One group for the rally mod sets up driver-codriver teams, where the co-driver spectates and reads your own pace notes over team speak.....

Also quite a few F1 leagues...What we really need is enough people to start a nico season.

Ive noticed you don't really get tire options, which is strange considering how much other tuning you can do.

So I been playing the demo and man it's hard as hell to drive the F1 car. But as far as damage I haven't been able to do anything worse than knock of the front wing. I'm pretty sure I was going fast enough to knock it off cause I did end up flipping the car over. Is the damage more "complete" in the full version?

Right on, Ill be out of town this weekend but we will work something out.If you like rally go d/l the HRC (historic rally car) mod from rFactor Central, its under cars. It comes with a ton of cars, pretty much any classic rally car you could want.

hopefully somewhat even....I haven't really even tried online racing because my pace is still a bit off the AI, so I figured the hardcore guys would just destroy me...

the d/l limits are only for the links with the little red R symbol...those are hosted by rFactor, the other one are hosted by random mirrors and you can go crazy with....Almost all the stuff has mirrors to choose from if you have hit the download limit.

Downloaded this yesterday, but haven't had a chance to play it yet.Only took about 13 minutes to download the file, too. Nice change to see someone actually offering the bandwidth to back their huge files (rather than offering a "downloader" that sticks you with some unreliable and slow p2p connection that gets baffled by a basic firewall *cough*Blizzard*cough*)

Don't have a wheel, but I do have an Xbox360 controller...better than nothing I guess.

Hey Red any idea on how I unlock all those different cars in the mods. Why do they come locked, why do I have to buy them. I just want to try them all out damn it. Plus for some reason I can't seem to start a season in F1 2005. Weird.

Have no idea how seasons work....

I usually just do race weekends, realize im not gonna win and just have fun running laps/trying to set fast time...The F1 mod doesn't come with tracks though, and I haven't found a full F1 season pack or anything. All the tracks exist though, as there are quite a few F1 leagues who run a mock season...

The locked cars are a credit thing.....When you try and choose them it should say something like "needs X more credits"If you just want the cars choose one that is avalible (for F1 2005 I think its the minardi [sp?]) and then on a track day when you sitting in the race moniter (before you click "race" ) type in ISI_BABYFACTORY

We need to race Willow Springs I seem to at least be able to keep up with the AI there, especially in Carrera Cup cars

If we are going to to race we'll race on a track that we both suck on. I want to see you bouncing off the walls and I want to be bouncing off your car as well, not to see you drive off into the sunset in 2 seconds and then i'll be bouncing off the walls myself, I can do that offline.....

Hmmm...well I still have my old sn, I suppose I could use aim express.

The game download isn't the most recent version, I think they are currently on 1250http://www.rfactorcentral.com/...pdate

If you dont have historic rally cars mod its semi nessisary :Dhttp://www.rfactorcentral.com/...RC%29there is an update for it on that page too.

Ill have to look into hosting a game, or if we have to join some one elses server....I have a decent computer so I should be able to host and play decently.....

We will have to go for a drive some time this week

lol, ford icon?

I got Trillian installed, I just leave it running, and check some times when at the computer. Haven't seen you on yet.

When are you around? Just started school again and I'm not really sure what days I'll be able to slack off on...

Maybe sunday?
