Does anyone have any experience with PBR brake pads? How do they compare to OEM? Is there a specific pad from PBR that is better than the others? I am looking for pads for street driving, not going to be taking it to the track anytime soon. Thanks.

I was under the impression that PBR became Axxis?

If that's the case, the PBR/Axxis Ultimates are a good heavy duty street/light track pad, but they are dusty and noisy occasionally.

i've been running axxis metal masters for the last 2 years and love em. they are about worn out now, but they are great street pads.

hahaha. Thanks, you are answering all my questions today. How much did they cost you? I found a place that had the metal masters for like 35$ CAD for a set of fronts for the z32, and the ultimate ceramic for 21$ I was kind of suspicious since the price is so low.

The ones I found were for the 300zx brakes. 26mm calipers. They are listed as PBR instead of axxis. maybe they are trying to clear all their stock? Here is the link I found

when buying pads for my prelude, I went to the local speed shop and asked for the best low-dust pad, and he handed me PBR's... IIRC he charged me between $45 and $65, can't remember exactly.

Ok. I ended up buying the PBR ultimate ceramic because they were by far the cheapest for some reason. People have been saying good things about the metal masters, so I figured the ceramics couldn't be all that bad. I had to order at least $75 Canadian to get free shipping, so I bought 2 complete sets of front and rears for $80. It kind of worries me that the price is so low. I am going to get some crazy defective, or super noisy dusty pads, that will demolish my rotors in 14 seconds. Ah well, I am very easy on my brakes anyways. I mostly do engine braking.

why... brakes are cheaper and easier to replace than a clutch or worn piston rings

Yeah, I know that. I don't think it can be too hard on your drivetrain if you revmatch properly. Cuz I mean, your clutch only slips when the 2 speeds are different and you are letting it in. For long gradual deceleration I downshif. You are going to be downshifting anyways. For quick sudden stuff, I use the brakes. If you are adequately aware of your surroundings, and there are no idiotic drivers, most of the deceleration I do is slow and gradual. My buddy doesn't revmatch at all. I cringe when he engine brakes.

Haha! it took a long time and finally a "here, let me drive" to convince my friend that heel toe downshifts are a must.

hahahaha. Heel toe isn't as important as just matching the freaking revs. My other friend just bought a 2005 G35 6 speed and he learned stick on it. I told him not to bother with downshifting until he actually learns to drive it semi well. Of course he still tries to do it on a regular basis. His car is going to be ****ed in no time at all.
