Just got my new rods today after ordering them on monday and they were here by thursday, but didn't receive them ttill today. Nice to see that someone has something available for us without having to wait a couple of months. You would have to see them in person to enjoy their fine quality. Oh well it's showtime!

uhum, are you threatning me??

jusr kidding, glad to see someone is spending stupid amounts of money on their engine too... i smell a dyno shoot out boost_boy??

any particular reason you choose the "I" beam over the "H" beam, i know why you choose pauter of crower (delivery time ~ maybe?)

are they forged steel and what was the weight???

i wish i knew that they had these off the shelf, and for ~740 i thought they were $1000 for the set, you got contacts or what??

Beggars in need can't be chosy!Quote »are they forged steel and what was the weight???
Chromoly steel and the overall weight in grams was '563'grams.Quote »you got contacts or what??
If you're referring to the rods, then the answer is "No". I called them months ago and asked about rods for our motors and they told me that they didn't make them and that I would have to send in a sample. I emailed them months afterwards asking about the same thing and they didn't reply for a long time. But last week monday I got an email with an apology stating that my email got lost in the shuffle and that they had the rods in stock and ready to roll. So I told "Brain Pauter" ship them C.O.D. and it was done in 3 days.

my buddy with a SR just laid down 524WHP in a S14 and ran a 11.2 (track damp 10 sec potential) but he is using a 80hp shot of Nitrous, so he's cheating for now, but my goals are to beat him, another friend with a 2nd Gen7 (480whp) and a blue evo 4 thats running in the 10's.. these and a few others are the ones to beat in street class around these parts.

i think i'll need a bigger turbo, some good slicks and allot of luck.

Those guys sound serious and I see that you are too! I would go with your currient blower for now and see what you can squeeze out of it. i mean if it's going to be a track car then I would definitely upgrade to a more efficient unit. But Remember this, these little motors don't need too huge of a turbo get going and too big of a turbo actually hurts it.

check out his run here, it's with my cybershoit so i got no sound :( on this clip, but if you look closely you can see the time at the end, he was racing an impreza (T3/4 & nitrous)...

I would say, just keep your motor in it's sweet spot which will possibly be arpund 62-65k rpm and you will make him work if not smoke him. If he uses his nitrous, you may find yourself in more of a battle than you'd expect. Since your engine is comprised of some of the parts that I'm using (except for your bugger bore), it would be interesting to see what type of power we can create. I'm going to try and max out the T3/T04E 60-1 stage, so it just may see 30+psi. After rapping with my machinist, he told me that because of the balancing of my flywheel and pressure plate, it's okay to assemble the beast.

I don't know about you, but as power demands grow, even some of the CA stock parts become obsolete.

and i dont know about you, but when you put in a fast or quick engine, you always want more, and then more turns inot allot more, thats what happened with me, i had a stock CA18 in my 1st project, a 77 capri, that did 14's, but i wanted more, and as my friends got faster i wanted to beat them for bragging rights, and i wanted an engine this time that if i wanted more i can just up the boost and fuel and go for it..

the forged internal route i must say is for the serious enthusiast, who can bare the thought of having an engine worth more than the car it is in..

these forged rods are only good is you are going to pushing 350hp+ and over 20psi boost on a regular basis.

Not taking anything away from the stock rods, but we CA18DET lovers don't have the evryday option of spending our money on a nice set of rods (Insurance). I'm like this, when opportunity knocks, I'm all game for it. And besides, with all the money I've spent in other components on the motor/car, why not change the rods (it just sounds bettter than, blah, blah blah, blah blah and oh yeah, the rods are stock).
