Headlight question

Most cars with hi/low beam setup: When high beam circuit is triggered, low beam circuit remains powered.

My truck: When high beam circuit is triggered, low beam circuit shuts off. I know later years of the D40 have the low beam circuit stay hot when the high is triggered. I'm wondering if it's just my headlight switch or something or if that's how the early '05s were setup. I see that they have an intelligent power distribution module that the power for the circuit triggers go through... would this be the issue?

I'm trying to keep the low beam circuit hot while the high beam circuit is hot for my HID ballast, as the ballast draws it's power from the low beam circuit.

Seems to me that in one case the trigger turns off one circuit when the other is on, and in the other case it just turns on the second circuit while leaving the first on. I know on motorcycles it also happened both ways mainly depending on the wattage of the bulbs. if both were left on the high beam was not as high a wattage as the ones that only ran high and not both together. This may just be a function of style design and wattage.

Well all the '06+ i've seen leave both circuits hot when the highs are triggered.
