Check out this site. This guy has put a Q45 engine in a Patrol (Safari) & Turbo'd it. http://www.promotive.com.au

Just click on the site, go to projects, scroll down to the Patrol, & check the fit.

Shame there's not more pics, but I'll try & get more from him.

OK I say we should just do this to a Pathfinder, Qship says he will donate his wifes truck for the project, and I have a spare motor and transmission, who else has some parts? We can all take turns driving it:D beating up on the cayenne.

Have to wonder about putting the intercooler directly in front of the radiator's airstream. That can't help in summer. Wish we had all that room inder hood in a G50 Q45.

Ask him what he has done to the transmission when you reach him, Chally. And thanks for the post. Might have to do a downunder tour for NICO to see all the ingenious applications of Nissan technology by minds unfettered by federal regulations.

Did he say it was running on propane?

The transmission is left standard, so far, & yes he is running what we call LPG (Liquified Petrolium Gas) but I'm unsure if it's the same as Propane in the U.S. (I think it is...:))

I actually met the guy at the Sydney Motor Show & he was giving us a ride in the Lexus 4wd around a test track, & the conversation got around to vehicles we drive & then he stopped in the parking bay for 1/2 an hour talking about how good these Q45 engines were. He just can't believe how strong & well these engines are built & how little anybody knows about them. (here in Australia)I hope to make regular contact with him, & bounce some ideas off him.

He has a friend who also has a Q45 engine & has fabricated a Manual Box to fit it. It was a backyard job & there are no jig's etc to reproduce it & I can't remember what vehicle he had it in, but I'm sure it was another 4wd...? (I will find out in a few weeks when he gets back home)

He took the sump off the Q45 engine & rang all his mates to come over & check it out & just show them how weak the Lexus motor was next to it...he was impressed!!!He has just imported another 5 motors for various projects, so it may be a bit of fun keeping in touch with him. :D

The manual box is behind another Patrol but they're looking at what box they may fit the easiest.I'll keep you posted.
