Something that was posted in the Nissan Online Mech got me thinking...

Can I replace the shifter in the Pathy with a short shifter for a 240? I'd like it to be less "truck-like".

This thing is so much like a sports car, it seems weird having that damn long-throw shifter...

probably not becuase of the additional langth below that you cant see. The 240 trans is much closer to the floor then the path so there is additional length below. Also if you have the 4X4 shifter next to it you have the rising ledge on the console trim that would interfear with first and second shifts.

It's a 2wd... Still no go?

Is there another way to shorten the throws? I can lop off the top 4" of the shifter.... But that won't shorten the throw.

does the console still rise right next to the shifter on the 1-2 side? If so I dont think it will work still. ( dont see many 2wd around here being at the base of the rubakon trail)

I not sure of the design of the 240 short shifter but to accomplish a shorter throw the pivot point would need to be higher up from the trans. You could lop off the top of the shifter and the travel of the shifter would actually be less. To judge if that decrease is enough while driving when you shift grap the shifter that much lower and see if that is acceptable or not. If it is I say lop it off and have it machined for threads to attach a knob.

Console does not rise to the left of the shifter...

Lopping it off will help, but not as much as I'd like...
