I have nothing to offer in the way of turbo advice, but just want to say welcome to NICO and I love your Pathfinder!!

By chance, have you dropped a turbo on your G35?

I think they need one for a VQ. . so that wouldn't work. . but I'm interested. I scoured NOPI and couldn't find it tho.

Can always just get one for the 350z and try and make it work/fit. Thats what i plan on doing for headers eventually.

If you could find/fabricate a turbo setup, how would you get more fuel? Are there programmers available for the 3.5?

My suggestion would be to make an "STS" knock off kit. That way you have unlimited room for the turbo, because there might not be enough room under the hood and headers would be expensive and almost impossible to fabricate.

Hi i will try to make a custom single turbo like the APS single turbo that they offer for the 350Z and G35 but it will take sometime and the UNICHIP will fit.

Adding a turbo to an R50 would be a pain.

You will need:

Custom Turbo manifolds to fit the pathfinder, I doubt the 350Z ones would fit.

Low Comp pistons, if your planning to run more than 6-7 PSI, 10.5:1 is kinda high to run more than 7-8 psi.

Larger Injectors, depending on the wanted boost.

Intake piping and/or intercooler.

Blow off valve.

Tuned ECU for larger injectors.

This can be done, you'd be looking at $2500 to $3500.

It would be fun, the R50 drives more like a car than most other larger SUV's, and the VQ35DE is an incredible engine...

I am becoming more and more interested in the possibility.

I am not familiar with these motors but am well versed in the Turbo Buick world. There are alot of injectors out there. I just don't know if they would be similar to Buick injectors or not.

I think the piping might be a nightmare, especially if you want something mandrel bent. You could weld a series of pipes together. Mandrel bent angle pieces can be ordered. As suggested before I wouldn't even try using the Z headers. Replace the muffler with the turbo and plumb everthing from there to the motor. It has worked very successfully on Toyotas, LS1s and the like.

I think an intercooler is a must, because of the high compression. Alky injection would also be a big plus to keep te intake charge temps done.

Blow off valve, only if you have a manual transmission.

Tuned ECU for larger injectors (This is my biggest hurdle.) I don't know what tuning is available for these ECMS. Someone mentioned the UNICHIP but I don't know if that's a laptop software tuning program of what. I wouldn't feel comfortable adjusting fuel curves, timing etc. on my own.

If someone is seriously thinking about doing this I would love to see it done. I don't have the funds to attempt it right now and my Q is my daily driver.

NNothing would be cooler than smoking all four tires in 4wd

For anyone looking at a turbo/SC setup for the 3.3L a company has just come out with kits that are supposed to fit ours. The website doesn't have a ton of information, but the company is called Alpine Developments.
