Last night I changed the transmission fluid on my 89 pathfinder 4wd 5sp manuel. I bought the wrong syntetic oil called for in the book. I put in GL5 75/145It shifted well but am now wondering if I should change it to Syntetic GL4. Will the GL5 do harm. It's not a hassel to change (I have a pit in my garage) and I often make these type mistakes because I'm always in a hurry. Thank you for your advice.

gl-5 is corrosive to the syncyros in our transmissions, furthurmore synthetic can cause problems by being so slippery that the synchros cant do there jobs properly

so yeah, if its not a problem, i would change it, your definatly lucky to have a pit

i have had good luck with redline mt90. it is fairly heavy and is a gl4. it was designed specifically for manual transmissions(not rear ends). also, nissan specifies it as an acceptable aftermarket substitute for their nissan brand manual trans fluid($16 a quart).

so does that mean that it will not void the warentee, because i heard they were refusing claims on the new 350z's and se-r's with the 6 speed m/t's which tested positive as to having synthetic installed
