Ok, I ran a search on the forum before i decide to post this, and didn't find any helpful info.

I have an 96 Pathfinder 3.3L, my problem is that sometimes the starter works sometimes it doesn't. I turn the key it clicks once as though the starter is stuck or wont turn. I turn the key again it and engages sometimes or sticks again. I have to do this a few times before it will engage and start the car.

Now heres where i'm stumped, I replaced the starter and it still did the exact same thing with the Brand New Nissan starter. I checked battery voltage its fine, I checked the terminals/cables they are are fine. I cleaned off the cables and terminals just to see if it would help and still the same response with the new starter.

So i'm wondering if anybody has any insight on this problem?

Thanks for the link to the thread.

Yeah thats basically what it does EXCEPT my starter will click if the car doesn't start. And as I read the thread most people were saying that it is the starter or solenoid. I couldn't see it being the starter for the fact that it is Brand New, all though there are rare instances you can get a bad starter. So i took it back to the dealer they exchanged it for another one and still i have the same problem.....

Yo dude i gota 96 pathy and i have the exact same problems! every time i take the starter back to napa they say its a faulty starter.... I have a optima battery and new terminals. I've owned the car for 2 years and have had two new starters installed. It didn't do it all winter however, only when the temperature shot up to 90 degrees. It probably has nothing to do with it but idk. the last 3 days is has not done it; its sorta on and off.
