Pathfinder Speedo/Cruisecontol issues

HI,Newbie here-hope you can help. I just bought a 1992 Pathfinder 4WD and the speedometer, odometer and cruise control are not working at all.From what I have read, they all could be affected possibly by the vehicle speed sensor.The Haynes book I have doesn't really go into any detail about this except that needle type speedometers utilize a reed switch,which is installed in the speedometer unit. Do I have to buy a new speedometer head unit or can I replace this speed sensor seperatley? Would this speed sensor affect the combination of speedo,odometer and cruisecontrol all at once, or am I looking for a relay or something? Thanks- Dave
