I have a 2003 Pathfinder. When the engine reaches 2500 rpms it starts seizing until the rpms go dow to about 2000. Thinking its the MAF sensor. I have a K&N filter installed. Is the MAF sensor located just after the filter box? Anybody have a diagram? Or picture? Some suggested diagnostic tests will be appreciated!
Thanks!

sounds like it could be in limp mode. hook up an OBD2 scanner to see if there are any codes (there could be codes stored even if the check engine light is not lit up)

And does the SES light come on briefly during the lamp test when you first turn the key?

Sorry for replying so late... Took the pathfinder to my mechanic, who told me there whas a code associated with a "swirl control valve"??. After reseting, the pathfinder went out of the "limp" mode. Hasn't happened since... May have been triggered by an A/C repair job a couple of days before the problem started (maybe they disconnected the MAF sensor or something)????? Who knows... Currently dealing with the infamous Clarion CD Changer problem. Front display/controls will not work, but steering wheel controls will. Jeez! Anyways, thanks for the tips!

Go get codes pulled at an AutoZone or other parts store that reads codes for free so we can determine the exact course of action.

The stock head unit and CD changer suck. Check the fuses labeled "AUDIO AMP" and "AUDIO" behind the driver coin tray to start with.

If the swirl control valve problem is not repaired then its def going to come back. The swirl control valve controls the butterflies in the intake. If they are not working you will lose accerlation. One common issue with the swirl control valve is that there is a hardened white substance that clogs up the vacuum lines restricting vacuum. I have seen lots of issues with these including broken vacuum hoses down in the intake. Good Luck

The power valves control the butterflies between the upper and lower intake manifold. The swirl valves are deeper within the intake.

I know this thread is 4 years old...still hoping Ddflosrt might be able to respond.

I have an 04 Murano that is also doing some type of "seizing/lurching" when I'm between 1.5 & 2 RPMs. My shop says my CVT is slipping and it needs to be replaced. Any chance it's something else...like the issue in this thread?
