Hey everyone! I have a 2006 Pathfinder with around 130k miles. About a month ago the speakers for my radio started going out. They would intermittently cut out while I was driving. The radio unit never loses power, dims, or does anything abnormal. The speakers would just cut in and out. After a few weeks the problem increased to the point where my speakers no longer have any sound coming out. I can turn the radio unit on/off, change stations, and increase/lower the volume... still nothing comes out of the speakers.

On occasion when I take a tight turn or stop suddenly the speakers have blared on for a second before cutting out, scaring the poop out of me.

My guess is a loose wire connected to the back of the unit? I plan on pulling the unit out and checking the back, but wanted to see what you all think first. Also, does anyone have information on how to pop the radio out?

Thanks!

Well I checked the radio fuse in the glove compartment. I checked the radio and amp fuse in the engine bay. All of the were good. I disconnected the amp under the driver's seat but don't know how to tell if its any good or not (I dont have a multimeter). Would there be any way to test the amp without a multimeter?

I would suspect most likely the cause would be a faulty amplifier.

Here is a used one on eBay for $20 shipped, just verify it is the correct amp for your vehicle if you decide to buy it.
